Hyde Hall-oween!

At RHS Hyde Hall in Essex, pumpkins and witches abound this week, but for me the only scary thing was the price of the cakes! The gardens still have plenty of colour, as you can see!

  1. Martin, Hyde Hall looks great at this time of the year! Lots of appropriate Halloween orange :-)! Do you know the name of the plant with the dark red leaves on the fifth photo from the top? What an amazing foliage and seed stalk. Wishing you a Happy Halloween!

  2. Hi Christina, Ricinus Communis (Castor oil plant) is your man, rather exotic looking isn't it! I couldn't grow it in my windy, coastal garden. Apparently they were used in Canada during Edwardian times, for plantings in parks. Perhaps you'd be able to grow them where you are.
